A seaside residence composed as a family of rooms, roofs and garden courts.
6,800 square feet / 6 bedrooms.
Situated on a rectangular-shaped seaside lot, this residence is arranged as an archipelago of spaces distributed to maximize sea views and the long shoreline. The pitched cedar-shingled roofs and hardwood shutters derive from the client’s childhood home—an old plantation house in Barbados—and are integrated into a residence inspired by a traditional Caribbean vernacular.
Design approach
Six bedrooms, living spaces and shaded verandas are gathered into distinct volumes, giving the large house a more intimate scale and a close relationship to its coastal landscape.
