RJDA /

Founded by Robert Johnson in 2013, RJDA’s primary focus is to define and create progressive architecture in the Caribbean. Born out of Robert’s world wide experience in architecture, the Cayman-based office offers full architecture, design and construction administration services, producing high-value buildings and spaces that simultaneously look good and function well.

We specialize in, but don’t limit ourselves to, residential and commercial buildings, with a specialty in retail planning. Based on Robert’s past education and work experience, the firm prides itself on a heavy design rigor which drives each project. Such an approach enables our team to find the optimal solution for our clients based on a building’s intended function and aesthetic (new and island-looking). Clients who request buildings that look ‘modern’ or ‘contemporary’ are those most pleased by our work.

Originally educated in Mechanical Engineering at McGill University, Robert went on to complete his Masters degree at the Southern California Institute of Architecture. He has always fueled a design interest within both disciplines which extends into all aspects of his work. Robert has worked in Los Angeles, Vienna and London for practices of international reputation and award winning design. While doing so he has won design competitions, awards, been published and sat on several juries at design schools.

After having worked abroad for most of his career, Rob returned home to the Cayman Islands to continue his architecture interests. Born and raised in Cayman, Robert has always felt a need to contribute to the built environment here and has done so periodically since Hurricane Ivan when he was part of the reconstruction efforts. His current projects include a few residential commissions, a mixed-use commercial building and a public boardwalk, both revitalizing efforts along the George Town harbor with the grand purpose of enhancing Cayman’s public environment.

His interests, other than architecture, include landscape painting, intelligent machines and sustainable design.

We look forward to working with you in the future.
